Ode to Self: A Poetic Interpretation of Form

This piece, Ode to Self, is Kashida’s response to Sphera, a collaborative exhibition by Bokja and Aishti in Beirut. Starting from a simple metal sphere, the challenge was to reinterpret its form through a conceptual design approach. The sphere was stretched and transformed so that words could emerge from within its structure, turning geometry into a medium for expression.

Transforming Geometry into Expression

The original spherical form is reimagined through elongation and distortion, creating a sculptural composition where text becomes an integral part of the structure. This shift transforms a pure geometric object into an expressive artwork, where form and language coexist. The result is a dynamic piece that invites viewers to engage with it from multiple perspectives.

A Poetic Reflection by Rumi

Embedded within the sculpture is a poetic line by Rumi: "Love is the journey that takes you from yourself to yourself". The words are not simply inscribed but woven into the form itself, turning the piece into a meditative encounter between poetry and material.

A Dialogue Between Self and Space

More than a response to an exhibition brief, Ode to Self becomes a reflection on inner journeys and self-discovery. By merging a transformed sculptural form with timeless poetic language, the piece creates a dialogue between the viewer, the object, and meaning itself, offering a contemplative presence within contemporary art space.
