Commissioned by Kulture, a trendy shop and café located in Dubai’s Jumeirah district, this piece is an inverted reinterpretation of our iconic Ahlamina coffee table. Reimagined as a ceiling lamp, the design transforms a familiar furniture piece into a striking suspended lighting installation. The result is a sculptural object that merges contemporary design language with conceptual storytelling, giving the original form a completely new spatial presence.

A Conceptual Transformation from Table to Light

The Ahlamina Ceiling Lamp takes the essence of the original coffee table and redefines it through inversion and elevation. By shifting the object from ground to ceiling, the design creates a bold visual dialogue within the space. This transformation highlights Kashida’s experimental approach to form, where everyday objects are reinterpreted into unexpected architectural elements that challenge perception while maintaining their original identity.

A Poetic Inscription of Hope and Resilience

The piece features a powerful phrase by the Arab poet Mahmoud Darwish: "la natubu 3an ahlamina mahma takarrara inkisareha", translating to "one does not give up on his/her dreams, even if they are recurrently shattered". The inscription is integrated into the design as a visual and emotional layer, turning the lamp into more than a lighting object, it becomes a message of perseverance suspended in space.
